CCAA update

CCAA has updated thier website. They have now completed placement of children with families logged in by 10/13/05. Which means the current wait time is now 16 months. Our 5 month anniversary of our LID will be on 2/18/06. Time is still passing by quickly for us so far. If CCAA does not start speeding referrals up the wait may extend to 24 months!

Matthew & Meagan

We flew to Rhode Island this weekend to work on the quilt. I was so happy when I found out that my sister planned a trip to R.I. the same weekend. We got to spend time with Michelle, Dan and the kids on Sunday. I havent seen Matthew and Meagan since May. I couldnt believe how big they have gotten!

New fabrics

I finally picked out my fabrics for Ava's quilt. I wanted a beach print because it reminded me of growing up in Rhode Island. I picked the Pooh print because of our love Disney World. Brian picked the guitar fabric for his second square. He's been playing guitar for about 17 years now so we thought it was a good choice for him.

Brian's Mom chose this beautiful pink fabric for her second square. It has a pretty shine to it and will look beautiful in Ava's quilt.
Thanks to Andrea and Matt for their great fabrics. Andrea loves sunflowers so her fabric is a perfect choice. Matt is a Fireman so his choice is perfect as well. We loved Uncle Matt's wish and cant wait to get Auntie Andrea's!!
Brian's Mom and I chose these two fabrics to represent Brians Grandparents and Aunt Silva in Ava's quilt.
Thanks to Brian's cousin Lori for our very special fabrics. Lori used the white fabric to make a cradle skirt for her son when he was born. Lori's Mom used the green fabric to make a jumper for her when she was a child. Thanks so much for sharing them with us and for your wonderful wish.
Thanks so much to Brian's cousins Bobby, Joyce, Seth, Elaina, Lisa, Chris and Melina for their adorable fabrics and beautiful wishes!
Thanks to Brian's cousins Ralph and Flo for their adorable fabric!!
Thanks to my cousins Donna and Laura for their great fabrics and very creative wishes! We love them!
Thanks to my Aunt Doris and Cousins Denise and Luis for their beautiful fabrics and wishes!
Thanks so much to my cousins Destiny, Angel, Talisha, Josie, Savannah and Olivia for the adorable fabrics and great wishes!
Thanks to our friends Jackie and Tania for their great fabrics.
Thanks to our friends Ron and Anne for their great fabrics. Their wishes we're so sweet and very creative!!

Thanks to our friends Diana, Jeremy and Family for their adorable fabric and story/wish. We loved them both!
Thanks to our friend Tonja for the adorable Strawberry shortcake fabric. It's so cute! Thanks to our friends Dena, Chad, Chya, Trinitee and Tristan for their great fabric and special wish!!

Laying out the squares

Andrea and I spent Saturday shopping for fabrics for the border and back of the quilt. Saturday night we did what we have been dreading...we figured out the layout of squares. We didn't know where to begin or how to choose where each square would be placed. We finally decided to break them up by color. We had 33 blue squares so we started with blue. We then added the pinks, yellows, greens, blacks and neutrals. It took us about 10 minutes with Andrea doing all the work. The center square will be embroidered with Ava's name. We decided to place the fabrics Brian and I picked out right next to it. Ava's Grandparents squares as well as her Aunt and Uncles squares are placed all around the center square.

Adding the pinks

The final layout...121 squares!!

We are so excited that Ava's quilt is finally coming together. Thanks again to everyone who contributed to Ava's quilt. It is already so special to us! We cant wait to share it with Ava someday.
